No one can argue that we live in possibly the most innovative city in the world, but when His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum made the announcement last September of plans to build a city that simulates the conditions of living on Mars that was next level stuff even for the UAE.
The Mars science project is costing Dhs500 million and will cover more than 1.9million square feet. A team of scientists will live on site for a year in preparation for the eventual settlement on Mars. The scientists will be focusing on self-sustainment in terms of water food and energy according to the Dubai Media Office.
Another exciting tidbit of information was shared by the DMO on Saturday when they released a clip of the pod prototype for the hyperloop line between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The trip is estimated to take just 12 minutes meaning you could potentially go through to Abu Dhabi for F1 weekend and pop back to your apartment to prep for the next days festivities without having to stayover or chill in the Yas circuit traffic before that tedious 90minute drive home. Sounds good to me. All Images and Video: Dubai Media Office. Read more about the hyperloop race here. Read next: Travel Apps that you’ll actually use. Wow, the Mars City and Hyperloops sounds very interesting! It's also going to be very expensive. I look forward to seeing it when it is finished.
