Ramadan is the perfect time to get involved in volunteering and donating with the initiatives happening throughout the UAE. These are a few awesome projects currently underway that I’ve come across and if you'd like to share any others, feel free to add them in the comments.

“Suhoor Is On Us” is an initiative by the Community Development Authority which will deliver meals using drones with the help of 700 volunteers. The drones will target mosque locations in Dubai an Umm Al Quwain with the aim to deliver 32 000 meals throughout Ramadan. Volunteers wishing to register for initiatives may do so through the CDA’s Volunteer mobile application as well as through the Day for Dubai initiative, launched through The Executive Council.

Al Tayer Insignia has partnered with Beacon of Hope UAE to provide support to children around the world who live in impoverished or war torn countries. Customers of Al Tayer stores will be invited to make a donation in stores or online to deliver solar light kits also known as “Beacon in a Box” spreading light and joy to the children globally. For more information visit beaconofhopeuae.com.

Emirates Red Crescent provides humanitarian, health and social assistance while Dubai Cares provides philanthropic assistance - both organizations are coordinating various charity drives during Ramadan. Visit dubaicares.ae and rcuae.ae to find out more.

Now in its second year running, Ramadan Sharing Fridges are set up outside and across the Dubai for you to donate food and drinks to the needy. Refreshments such as bottled water, fruit juices, Laban, soda, fruits, vegetables, biscuits and tinned food are all welcome. However hot/prepared foods are not accepted for obvious health/safety reasons. Fridges are stocked up to 15 times a day and each feeds at least 100 people per day. There is a regularly updated map of all the different locations of the fridges which you can access on facebook.com/groups/uaefridges.
