Following the big announcement in June 2017 that fashion's golden boy Virgil Abloh would be launching a collection with IKEA, it's like we all got excited but then - radio silence - except when offered a brief glimpse at a blue rug on his instagram last October. Next thing, Virgil Abloh was crowned the artistic director for Louis Vuitton in March and suddenly it seemed as though there was a chance that the IKEA project might be shelved, (especially with his first Paris show for LV scheduled for June already). Lucky for us the man is a machine and has been working relentlessly behind the scenes to add his touch to our interiors, so to speak. IKEA announced this week, via its instagram page that the collection would be revealed through a livestream on Ikea.today taking place this Monday the 30th April at 12:30 (GMT+4). The event will give a behind the scenes look at Virgil Abloh's creative process, the prototypes of the global collection and perhaps a release date for when it will be available too. IKEA has revealed on its website that the pieces are aimed at millennials who are just starting out their lives.
Update: Missed the livestream? Watch it here. You’re welcome xx Image: Virgil Abloh Instagram
